Prime minister Gordon Brown has highlighted the efforts of countries around the world which worked to overcome the global economic crisis.

The prime minister explained that the recession brought about "a huge step forward in global economic cooperation" which brought together emerging economies and global leaders, all with the common goal of repairing the global financial system.

Mr Brown gave the speech in London this morning (March 10th 2010).

The speech coincided with an announcement that the government will release the Budget before the general election.

It was decided that the economic plan would be published on March 24th, at least six weeks before the expected election date of May 6th.

Mr Brown said: "The Budget will focus on protecting and advancing the recovery - on how we protect our children's and young people's economic futures by ensuring that Britain can succeed in the new industries and new jobs of the future global economy.ADNFCR-1804-ID-19661104-ADNFCR
